Ontario Chapter Enjoys Spring Outing at
Pathway to Perennials

On June 10th our, Ontario Chapter members enjoyed a day at Pathway to Perennials, a unique garden centre that creates one-of-a kind, award-winning garden rooms. Located in the country just outside of Toronto, we experienced 11 acres of spectacular feature gardens, lifestyle displays, garden art and garden furnishings.

The gardens were connected by pathways defined by an interesting use of hard-scape and various ground covers including ivy and succulents. These pathways led us to several garden rooms that gave everyone unique ideas for their own large and small gardens, patios and balconies.

A Power Point presentation on urn planting by one of their very knowledgeable staff showed us the magnificent result of mixing succulents, mosses, stones and other unusual plant material. Pathway to Perennials gave us the perfect chance to sharpen our gardening skills, share garden secrets and choose unusual or native perennials. It was very inspiring.

Afterwards we enjoyed a light lunch served in their Outdoor Garden Café. We couldn’t resist shopping in their gift shop filled with unique garden accessories, decorative wrought iron garden art, interesting urns and unusual planters, in addition to a vast selection of rare perennials including many natives. Needless to say, we were in seventh heaven!

It was a beautiful spring day filled with comraderie and laughter, inspiring new ways to enhance our gardens and gifts galore. We hated to say good bye to our many friends; but, we knew that we’d be getting together in October for our Annual Meeting and Show.
